Loneliness and friendship
Friendship After Moving: Keep It and Find It Again

Moving resets more than just your address. The people you're used to stay behind in another city, and there aren't any in the new place yet. The first weeks go into settling in, and it seems like everything's fine. Then comes an evening when the boxes are unpacked, the shelves are sorted — and it becomes clear there's no one to talk to. This isn't a sign that you moved badly. It's an ordinary part of moving that people rarely warn you about.
What Happens to Friendship After Moving
After a move, two processes run at the same time. Old connections gradually weaken: you no longer see each other automatically, and keeping them going takes deliberate effort. New connections don't appear on their own: in a new place you don't share any history with anyone.
