Anxiety
How Anxiety Passes from Parents to Children

You weren't born anxious. You learned the world is dangerous by looking into your mother's eyes.
Anxiety is transmitted. Not just through genes, but through behavior. If mom is constantly afraid, the child learns: the world is scary. If dad controls every step, the child learns: I can't handle things on my own. If parents see danger everywhere, the child grows up with the same lens.
This isn't conscious learning. A child doesn't think, "Mom is afraid of dogs, so dogs must be dangerous." They just absorb it. Like a sponge. Mom flinches at the phone ringing. The child flinches too. Dad checks the doors three times. The child remembers: you need to check. Mom says, "Don't go there, it's dangerous." The child remembers: the world is full of traps.
