Sex and intimacy
Lost Desire: What to Do and Where to Start

Sometimes it happens like this: in the evening you want only one thing — to be left alone. Or intimacy has turned into an item on your to-do list that needs to be checked off, rather than something you look forward to. Sometimes desire fades after a hard year, sometimes after an argument that never really ended, sometimes for no clear reason. Let's say the main thing right away: lost desire is not a malfunction and not a death sentence for the relationship. It's a signal that can be met with attention, not with self-blame.
Desire Is Not an Obligation
Let's start with something worth letting go of once and for all. The idea of "marital duty" isn't about intimacy — it's about coercion. Sex out of obligation, without desire, is not the norm and doesn't strengthen a relationship: it leaves behind emptiness, irritation, and growing distance. The longer this goes on, the less you want it — that's a predictable outcome, not your coldness.
