Emotional Burnout: When Everything Feels Pointless

This is not laziness. It's not depression. It's your soul telling you: I can no longer give what I don't have.
Emotional burnout is what happens when you've been giving more than you receive for too long. When you've been tense for too long. When you've been ignoring the signs of fatigue. And at some point, your body says: stop. I don't feel anymore. I don't want to. I can't. And you just lie there. Staring at the ceiling. And you can't figure out what's wrong with you. Because everything looks fine. You have a job. You have relationships. But you feel utterly spent.
Burnout often gets mistaken for laziness. "Just push yourself." But it's not laziness. Laziness means you don't feel like doing something. Burnout means you can't—even when you try your hardest. It's like a battery that hasn't just run out of charge; it has lost its capacity. Recharging doesn't help anymore.
