Emotional Neglect: When You Weren't Hit, But You Weren't Loved Either

The quietest trauma. Because it's hard to explain. But the pain is real.
Emotional neglect is when you weren't hit. No one yelled. No one humiliated you. They just weren't there. No warmth. No interest. No questions. You grew up near your parents, but not with them. They fed you, clothed you, took you to school. But they didn't see you. Didn't hear you. Didn't hug you. Didn't ask how you felt.
From the outside, everything looked normal. Even good. "Well, they didn't drink. Didn't beat us. They worked. They tried." But inside, it was empty. You sat at the table while mom scrolled her phone. You cried while dad read the paper. You talked about school, and they nodded without listening. You were like furniture. Needed. But not alive.
