Overprotectiveness. When care becomes a cage

They meant well. But what they taught you in the end is that without them, you're worthless.
Overprotectiveness is when parents cared too much. Controlled too much. Decided too much for you. You didn't pick out your clothes. Mom did. You didn't choose your friends. Dad decided who was okay. You didn't do homework alone. Your parents sat by your side and dictated. You didn't walk to the store by yourself until high school. Because it was "dangerous."
From the outside, it looks like love. "They were just worried." "They wanted what's best." But inside, you were growing up in the golden cage. You never learned to make choices. You never learned to make mistakes. You never learned to stand on your own. You were an extension of your parents—not yourself.
